The new head of the department of energy has never had a job outside of politics no obvious industrial experience. It has been reported that she believes that the UK can lower its energy costs by flooding the market with energy supplied by ‘cheap’ renewable sources distributed by a nationalised cooperative. The streets of Aberdeen must be flowing with the gooey remains of unemployed oil and gas workers that have burst from frustration.
Well flooding the market with oil won’t do anything so may as well try this (which seems to be working in Spain to get prices down). As with all changes in technology some people lose jobs as new ones are being created. That’s how the world works.
This is just how politics is these days. They know that people don't want to hear the truth that there is no money and that something has to be cut so you can have the particular bit of cake you want. Instead it's promise everything and worry about it later. If they do tell the truth then someone else will come along and lie and they will be voted in. None of them will do anything different as none will admit that in real life the big problems are complex and hard to resolve with no easy black and white solutions.
No money? This sorry bunch of losers spent so much that our welfare cost is the same as Iran's GDP. If it was a country it would be the 38th wealthiest country in the world, so I heard yesterday on the radio. We rake in more than £1.2 trillion in taxes. No money? Give me £1.2trilion and I sort this whole sad and sorry shambles out in one fell swoop. I might be thought a dictator or autocrat then...maybe that's what we need to shake up this sorry system...gulp.
